My standard poodle has always had ear problems, Tresaderm used to keep it under control. My vet prescribed Otomax, we have had several rounds of it , off & on. It helped for a while, even tried another product, forgot the name, but now it does not work. I have used an ear cleaner, cider vinegar, again nothing clears up his ears. They don't smell, but a dark brown gunk is always there. I am considering changing vets,but don't know where to turn or if there is another holistic way to help his ears.

One of the first things I would do is change his dog food. Depending on what he eats, he may have a food allergy which can often show up as ear problems.

Get him on a good diet, if you already feed a diet with no corn, wheat, by-products or artificial anything, consider changing to an exotic protein. My usually itchy/scratchy dog does well on a duck and potato food.
